Summer 2026 Internship — AI-Assisted Development Research & Engineering
About TownBackyard
TownBackyard LLC is a software product development consultancy. We work across the Microsoft stack —
.NET, ASP.NET, Azure — and partner with clients on modern AI-assisted development workflows
using tools like Claude Code and ChatGPT Codex. We help small and mid-sized teams ship better software, faster.
About the Role
We're hiring a paid summer intern for approximately 10 weeks in 2026 to work alongside the founder
on AI-assisted development research and real client projects. About 60% of your time will be spent
exploring AI coding tools and agent workflows — running structured experiments, building small
internal tools, and writing up what you learn. The remaining ~40% is split between hands-on .NET
development on real projects and contributing to the TownBackyard website and content.
What You'll Work On
-
AI research (~60%) — Run structured experiments with Claude Code,
ChatGPT Codex, and other coding agents. Build small internal tools that automate parts of our
development workflow. Write up findings as internal memos and, where appropriate, public blog posts.
-
Software development (~30%) — Pair with the founder on real client and
internal projects in C# / .NET, ASP.NET, and Azure. You'll write production code, review pull
requests, and learn how a small consultancy ships.
-
Content & site (~10%) — Help improve townbackyard.com: case studies,
blog posts, SEO improvements, and small UI polish.
